What Can Dental Implants Do?

Dental Implants can:

  1. Replace missing teeth
  2. Stabilize dentures
  3. Provide optimal function
  4. Enhance appearance
  5. Improve speech

Most importantly, implants allow us to provide permanent cures for head pain problems by allowing us to be able to give our patients optimal jaw function and stability.  We work closely with our referring dentists and doctors to give our patients the best possible options for their health improvement.

If you have been provided with a quote for implant reconstruction and you suffer with any related symptoms of head pain such as migraines please consider that such care must be coordinated with advanced craniofacial therapy before getting started.  Too often we see patients who have received tens of thousands of dollars worth of implant and reconstructive care only to find out that their jaw positions are deficient and the work must be redone.

Dental Implant Case Studies

Case #1: Implant Stabilized Prosthodontic Reconstruction

This patient had suffered with migraines her entire life.  When she came to see us we found a serious deficiency in her jaw function.  After 8 months of correcting her craniomandibular dysfunction and eliminating all of her head pain we decided to finalize the case with implants, crowns, and bridges.  The results speak for themselves.  Without implants, many of these results are not possible.

Case #2: Implant and Crown TMJ Reconstruction

This patient had also suffered with migraines her entire life.  When she came to see us we found a serious deficiency in her jaw function.  She had already been restored by her dentist and had spent considerable amounts of money to rehab her bite.  Unfortunately, her jaw position and function were severely deficient.  After extensive TMJ and neck treatment we proceeded to place 6 implants and crowns in order to give her optimal function.  No more migraines!  And a brand new smile and bite.

A smile and bite deficiency can have serious impacts on function and cause head pain problems such as migraines
Implant and prosthodontic rehabilitation allows us to permanently cure pain issues and provide optimal jaw function

Case #3: Advanced Implant Reconstruction

Optimal jaw function is dictated by many factors.  Ultimately your teeth are used to provide the optimal balance, stability, and function.  When you are in pain and cannot chew your food your health will suffer.  Once we decide where optimal function needs to be we can easily place implants and other needed procedures such as bridges and crowns to give our patients normal pain-free lives.  Most of these cases are done with neuromuscular approaches for optimal fit and clearly defined bite mechanics.  The number of implants and crowns required is based on an extensive preliminary evaluation which must include CT scans, study models, and photos.  CT scans allow us to determine the strength and viability of the bone before surgery is planned.  TMJ and craniomandibular treatment allows us to be able to place the jaws in the right position so that future stres is eliminated and optimal function is planned.  The XR and photo below show a more complex case and the final smile.

XRs and CT Scans must be used for proper evaluation
A final result must achieve cosmetic improvement and optimal function with no symptoms of any head pain problems

Case #4: Life Changing Implant Supported Dentures

Our vibrant and healthy patient had tried numerous partials.  She hated smiling and could not eat properly.  She suffered with jaw pain and dysfunction.  Due to the condition of her bone and alignment of her remaining teeth we advised her that only TMJ stabilization and implants could allow us to give her the needed treatment.  The patient was beyond thrilled with the results.  She actually took a few vacations to visit friends that she had not seen in a while and to show off her new smile.

We tried to get her to smile without her teeth…she couldn’t
Implant stabilized overdenture partials gave her a new healthy look and a new start on life

Case #5: Prosthodonic Implant Cosmetic Makeover

G.L. suffered with  years of bruxing and clenching habits.  He wore down his teeth and was not able to chew any longer.  Headaches, ear pain, and jaw dysfunction ensued.  His case started with TMJ therapy.  Once his jaw position was determined we placed implants, crowns, and bridges to give hims a new smile and renewed confidence.  Cases like this always require advanced TMJ protocols before final treatment can be considered.  Without stabilizing the jaws in an optimal position it is not possible to complete the final dental work.  Implants are an integral part of this success
